Kröger Example 7.3.1 closed on its own heat transfer rate: the loop returns his water temperature
Tier T: a textbook worked example - a published answer, not a measurement.
System: Indirect dry cooling, natural draft, horizontal array
- What was compared
- The water inlet temperature of the indirect natural-draft tower of Kröger's Example 7.3.1 when the loop is closed on the example's own heat transfer rate, the inverse of the example's calculation.
- Against
- Kröger's worked Example 7.3.1 (Kröger, Vol. 2, Section 7.3), a published calculation and not a measurement.
- The agreement
- The loop returns a water inlet temperature of 334.59 K against the example's 334.60 K (61.45 °C), a difference of 0.01 K, within the case's tolerance of ±0.05%.
- What it shows
- The agreement verifies that the inverse solution, with the water temperature as the unknown and the heat transfer rate as the load, is consistent with the forward rating of Kröger's method. It is not a measurement, and the steam back pressure, which depends on an assumed condenser terminal temperature difference, is not compared.
