Kröger Example 8.1.1
Forced-draft air-cooled heat exchanger bay
Tier T: a textbook worked example - a published answer, not a measurement.
- What was compared
- The air mass flow rate, the heat transfer rate and the fan shaft power of a forced-draft bay of two fans below two six-row bundles cooling a process fluid.
- Against
- Kröger's worked Example 8.1.1 (Kröger, Vol. 2, Section 8.1), a published calculation and not a measurement.
- The agreement
- The air mass flow rate is reproduced to within 0.10%, the heat transfer rate and the fan shaft power to within 0.04%, and every temperature to within 0.04 K.
- What it shows
- The agreement verifies that the model implements Kröger's draft equation and fan representation for a forced-draft bay as published. It says nothing about the method's accuracy against a measured plant.
