The validation record

ASME PTC 30.1 Appendix A: the reconstructed plant against the vendor's curves

Tier 3: CFD, co-simulation or another model.

System: Air-cooled condenser, A-frame forced draft

What was compared
The condenser pressure of an A-frame air-cooled condenser against the inlet dry-bulb temperature at 80 to 120% of the design steam flow, every fan at full speed, forty points in all. The plant is reconstructed from the Code's design data and calibrated on its design point.
Against
The vendor's performance curves for the air-cooled condenser of ASME PTC 30.1 (Appendix A, Table A-1; Appendix B, Table B-1.2.3), which are themselves the vendor's model and not a measurement.
The agreement
Over the forty points the model's pressure is 1.5% above the vendor's on average, 3.6% root-mean-square and 6.5% at worst. On the design-flow curve it is 5.3% low at 0 °C, meets the vendor's curve near the design point and is 5.8% high at 35 °C.
What it shows
The comparison shows how closely a plant calibrated on the design point follows the vendor's curves away from it; the gap is the difference between two models' response to the air temperature. The tube's shape, the fan and the layout are borrowed with no measured error, so the case does not contribute to the model-form uncertainty band.
