ASME PTC 30.1 Appendix A: the field test against the reconstructed plant
Tier 1: measurement on an operating plant.
- What was compared
- The steam flow taken in each hour of a field acceptance test by the air-cooled steam condenser of ASME PTC 30.1 Appendix A, reconstructed and calibrated on the vendor's design data sheet, at each hour's inlet air temperature and condenser pressure with the fans at the test's 3 109 kW, and the plant's capability for hour 4.
- Against
- The vendor's field test of an operating plant in ASME PTC 30.1 Appendix A (Tables A-2.1 and A-2.2), a measurement, with the Code's capability for hour 4 (Table A-4.5) and its U95 of 3.02 points (Appendix C).
- The agreement
- The measured flow is 105.0 to 106.5% of the prediction, 106.1% over the four hours. The model's corrections give a capability of 106.5% for hour 4 against the Code's 105.6%, within the test's U95 of 3.02 points.
- What it shows
- The agreement shows that the model's capability corrections reproduce the Code's reduction of a measured acceptance test to within one point. The difference of about 6% between measured and predicted flow is the plant's margin over the guarantee the model was calibrated on, not the model's error, so the case does not count toward model-form uncertainty.
